Areas of protected landscapes

Areas of protected landscapes cover the areas, which are taken under protection, because of their outstanding, diversified landscape. They are very valuable due to touristic matters. They also perform a function of ecological corridors.

Natura 2000 areas

European Ecological Network Natura 2000 is a kind of system of areas connected one with each other by ecological corridors. These areas form together a coherent ecological network, of which basic task is prevention of biodiversity. It happens through protection of the most valuable and the most rare nature elements.

Natural monuments

On the area of Krosno Forest District there are 26 nature monuments, including 1 surface monument.

Ecological sites

Ecological sites are the Romains of ecosystems that deserve protection and are of great importance for maintenance of biological diversity, f. ex. mid-forest water ponds, swamps, mosses and sites of rare plant, animal and mushroom species.

SILVICULTURE

SILVICULTURE

The basic task of silviculture is preservation of existing forests (renewal), as well creating new ones (afforestation), with respecting nature conditions and natural processes. Within its range silviculture includes such issues as: collecting and storing tree seeds seeding, tree saplings production in the tree nursery, creation and nursery, as well as protection of forest cultivations and forest stands.

The forest, if it hadn't come into existence naturally, then it would be planted by the foresters. The saplings are cultivated in tree sapling nurseries. The cultivations are taken under nursing and protective treatments. They are to create optimum conditions for trees' growth of the most desirable ones in species composition of the growing forest stand. The last component of silviculture is forest old stand logging, due to make forest renewal possible in the optimum way for the growing tree species requirements.
